Event Overview
As the adopted hometown of George Washington, the city of Alexandria, Virginia celebrates Washington’s birthday every year with events throughout the month of February. The George Washington Birthday Parade is undoubtedly the highlight! On Monday, February 19, 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M., visitors will line the streets of Old Town to cheer on the nation’s oldest and largest George Washington birthday parade, complete with drum corps, color guards, bands, local organizations, city dignitaries, and of course General Washington and Martha Washington.
As an active member of the Old Town Alexandria community, Common Sense Society’s doors will be open 12:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. to the many neighbors and guests gathering to celebrate. Our open house is family-friendly and will feature music, colonial-themed refreshments, crafts and games, and a children’s story time.
