Education Programs Assistant

Job Description

Common Sense Society (CSS) seeks an energetic and responsible entry-level professional for the role of Education Programs Assistant. The successful candidate will provide a wide array of operational, research, drafting, and reporting support to the Education Programs team. This position reports to the Vice President of Education and is based in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Core Responsibilities

• Serve as the meeting planner for annual national teacher professional development seminars and ad hoc local workshops
• Support in recruiting middle school and high school teachers for CSS professional development programs
• Provide editorial and proofreading support
• Track prevailing national and regional curricular developments
• Maintain a database of regional and national conferences
• Attend and exhibit at regional and national conferences
• Support communications team in development of education marketing material
• Maintain education department database
• Provide any other programming and reporting support as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to CSS' mission
• Demonstrated relevant experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to take initiative to meet department needs
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues
• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Flexibility in working with new issues, topics, and approaches
