CSS, a leading international educational network, was established in 2009 and now hosts educational initiatives throughout North America and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Mitchell currently serves as a professor of political theory at Georgetown University. He has also been chairman of the Government Department and Acting Chancellor of The American University of Iraq \u2013 Sulaimani (AUI-S). He has published several books including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fragility-Freedom-Tocqueville-Religion-Democracy\/dp\/0226532097\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The Fragility of Freedom: Tocqueville on Religion, Democracy, and the American Future<\/em><\/a><em>,<\/em> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/American-Awakening-Identity-Politics-Afflictions\/dp\/1641771305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>American Awakening: Identity Politics and Other Afflictions of Our Time<\/em><\/a>. His areas of interest range from the ancient world to contemporary America and Europe. His thinking has been deeply informed by the nineteenth century writer, Alexis de Tocqueville, who anticipated the problem of loneliness and isolation in the modern world, and who thought that to combat it, families, churches, and other mediating institutions would be needed, along with a commercial spirit aimed at producing well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Mitchell joins CSS\u2019s distinguished team, including Dr. Aaron Rhodes, senior fellow in Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are honored to have Dr. Mitchell join our team as a senior fellow,\u201d said <a href=\"\/nl\/leadership\/\">Marion Smith<\/a>, president and C.E.O. of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsensesociety.org\/nl\/\">Common Sense Society<\/a>. \u201cHaving joined our Carolina and Europa Fellowships as a faculty member earlier this year, Dr. Mitchell has been an invaluable resource to CSS.
