Mr. Joel Bowers is an entrepreneur who has started, acquired, and sold businesses in retail, ecommerce, real estate, and agribusiness. He helped launch CSS operations in the U.S. in 2013 with the Carolina Fellowship, a six-day-long intensive series of seminars that explore the foundational principles of the United States in the context of Western civilization. He will continue to help expand this program and build others like it throughout the Southeast U.S. In addition to his work with CSS, Mr. Bowers serves as a board member of Restoration Project Foundation, a youth mentoring program based in Greenville, South Carolina.
Dr. Paul Coyer previously served as a research professor at The Institute of World Politics in Washington, D.C. as well as an associate professor at l’Ecole Speciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, the French Army’s equivalent of West Point. His research ranges from Russia, China, and Latin America to nationalism, national identity, and the role of religion and culture in international affairs. His most recent book L’Etica del Nazionalismo (The Ethics of Nationalism) was published in 2020, and his writings have been published in online news outlets and academic journals, including Forbes, The Washington Times, the Kyiv Post, Oxford Islamic Studies, and Sovranità, Democrazia e Libertà. He is also a co-founder and contributing editor of Providence Magazine.
“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Joel Bowers and Dr. Paul Coyer to our team as we advance the ideas of liberty, prosperity, and beauty,” said CSS President and CEO Marion Smith. “CSS provides opportunities for young professionals and scholars to understand complex problems, gain clarity in the melee, address root problems and not just symptoms, and apply common sense to the challenges facing our communities. In their respective roles, Mr. Bowers and Dr. Coyer will be instrumental in this mission, and we look forward to working alongside them.”
